The Pat Patterson 9-Pin No-Tap benefit tournament was won by Brett Cunningham in the men's division and Aylenn Arana in the women's division. 94 bowlers participated in the event last Saturday at St. Charles Lanes.
The tournament was a secondary thought as everyone came to support the family of Pat Patterson who passed away unexpectedly on October 3rd. Pat was well known in the bowling community as Kurt Thompson's mother who was always there to support Kurt's bowling through the years. Pat was proud mother of five: Kurt, James, Terry, Jennifer, and Amanda.
Fundraising on this night was fast and furious as there were over 25 gift baskets, silent auctions, bake goods sale, 50/50 raffle, and a Storm IQ bowling ball raffle. Information about the Storm ball raffle was released in this video featuring Jason Belmonte, Diandra Asbaty and yours truly. Over $3,500 was raised at the tournament and the family would like to thank EVERYONE that did their part to contribute to this great event.
It seems as though whenever tragedy strikes the bowling community, bowlers rally together to support their bowling family. This also was the case when it came to the actual workers of this event. Mike Remaklus from King Pin Lanes acted as Tournament Director after cancelling his no-tap (he wanted to support this cause instead), proprietor's Carol and Randy Lightfoot offered a very low charge for the bowling and were on hand all evening to assist, and Matt Turek and Kendall Salas (Crest Bowl employees) were a huge help as well with the 50/50 and silent auction.
I personally want to thank everyone that took part in this event and did what they could to help the entire Patterson family.
